PCAWL Rescue Stories: Webster

The only person who knows how Webster came to be living in the Scenic Overlook on Hwy 63 isn't about to tell anyone, so we're left with guesses. Maybe he jumped out of the car when his family stopped to admire the view, and they didn't notice. Maybe he got carsick on a trip, so they abandoned him there. However it happened, the little guy was alone and very frightened. A trail of trash leading down to the hiding spot he slept in bore witness to other kind hearts trying to help him, but his luck was edging ever downward until a lady, most appropriately named Angel, saw him as she traveled through Missouri. She tried to catch him for 2 hours, then spent hours more trying to find help for him but no one accepted responsibility for a tiny waif left in the parking lot.

Finally, after a long series of calls, the tired Angel called a PCAWL member and begged her to help. Since the volunteer had a trap and food at hand, she drove out to the Scenic Overlook and set a trap for him. Hunger won out over caution and Webster was caught. He visited the vet who said he was negative for heartworm and, other than a bumper crop of ticks and fleas, his biggest problems were dehydration and starvation. Once safely indoors, Webster proved to be a sweet natured though somewhat timid little fellow.

The PCAWL volunteer was full up with other waifs, so put out a plea for a foster home for Webster and Beth stepped up for the little boy. Beth got him healthy and clean, then made sure he was neutered. Then she looked for the perfect home for him. Webster though was right where he wanted to be, so he wiggled his way into her heart and now he's safe at home with Beth. A happy ending for Webster was possible after all, and all thanks to a lady named Angel!
