PCAWL Rescue Stories: Suzanne (Renamed Freckles)
Suzanne was a friendly small beagle mix whose time was running out at the shelter. PCAWL was short on volunteers to foster animals, and the chances that this hound would have a happy home seemed remote.
At the last minute, a member agreed to foster Suzanne, despite her own crowded household. After living in a concrete kennel at the shelter, Suzanne loved running in a large yard. She also turned out to be a real sweetheart, who was good with other dogs and cats and even loved to jump in laps and snuggle. Her foster parents even struggled with the decision of whether they should adopt her, but ultimately decided they already had too many pets.
She was soon adopted, but
the adopter wasn’t as committed to making the adoption work as she had promised on the application. So she returned Suzanne to the original foster parents.
Another member knew her parents liked beagles, so she took the dog to meet her parents with her fingers crossed. Everything went wonderfully, and Suzanne, now named Freckles became a pampered pet. PCAWL is working toward the day that all shelter and homeless animals have such a happy ending!
