PCAWL Rescue Stories: Moose & Max
Moose and Max are two puppies from a litter of puppies that was rescued as tiny orphaned babies. They
were found by an area citizen on the side of the road in a locked crate. Their mother was inside and dead and all of this was during a terrible hot spell. Mama was a Corgi and infested already with maggots, the puppies had begun to be attacked by the nasty bugs and the citizen made a frantic call to PCAWL.
It was decided that the babies be taken to a local veterinarian to evaluate the chance of saving them. They were cleaned up and placed back in a warm box to go home with two PCAWL volunteers who knew that they faced a lot of sleepless nights ahead of them. The split the litter of 8 babies and each took four babies home. The vet said they were only a day or two old at best and they were tiny. The search began for a neonatal rescue who might have room for the eight babies are PCAWL has a very limited funds and volunteer base. A rescue was found in St.Louis to take six of the puppies and PCAWL kept two.
Those two babies were dubbed Moose and Max. A lot of applications came in, but pcawl really felt that Moose and Max needed to stay together and that is what they searched for, a home for them together. A wonderful couple applied to adopt them who lived on a huge farm with a lot of acreage, they had not long ago lost a beloved pet to illness and had decided they would like a new friend again. They agreed they would like to keep Moose and Max together and the rest is as they say history. A happy ending to a very rocky and scary start for 8
precious puppies left on the side of the road by an uncaring person to die, as thier mother did. Thank you to all involved in their rescue!
