PCAWL Rescue Stories: Medina
Medina was locked in a small cat carrier at the Animal Shelter, sick, pregnant and feeling desperate. If Animal Control couldn't find a foster home for her quickly, she was going to die along with her unborn kittens. PCAWL volunteers found a place for her, and just two days later her kittens were born. Medina had the first 4 with no difficulty, but then her exhausted body just gave up the fight. The foster mother was worried, so took her to the vet and sure enough, there were two more kittens. Medina just needed a bit of help and they were born.
Medina was an excellent mother, sweetly attentive in spite of a continuing respiratory problem. She kept her kittens warm, well-fed and clean and once they started making sounds, she answered them each time they called. She clearly adored her babies, but also clearly had had more babies in her 5 years than any cat should be expected to raise. Medina's sneeze and wheezy rattle did not improve but luckily wasn't contagious to the kittens.
Eventully Medina's health improved and once her kittens were weaned, she put on some much needed weight. No one seemed to want the pretty little Siamese girl, her ads were on Petfinder for a long time.
Then one fine
day right at the end of the year, Katelin saw Medina's ad and called
about her. She isn't worried about the
respiratory problem that might
come back again, she enjoys Medina's loving personality. She isn't too
concerned about Medina's age, she enjoys her beauty. Medina's luck
changed at last. She will have no more kittens and she will always have
a warm and loving home to take the place of the cold, cold outdoors and
the chanciness of life on the streets. Medina is home at last!
