PCAWL Rescue Stories: Lucinda
Lucinda is a wonderful female cat with quite a story! She was turned in by our local animal control as a
stray with a huge gaping hole in her little neck! She appeared
to be very healthy, all things considered. As it turns out, this pretty girl had a “warble” in her neck, which is a deadly worm that burrows under a cats skin and leaves itself a tiny hole to breathe. As the warble grows, the hole becomes larger and larger and the worm will eventually poison the blood stream of the cat and cause a painful death! A caring animal control officer with vet tech experience at the animal shelter removed the worm from Lucinda’s neck. The entire time this pretty girl purred and purred, just thrilled to have some affection and to get this thing out of her body! She had such a wonderful personality and beautiful swirl markings, it was surprising that once she was healed, there were no adopters to take her home. All of these qualities were just not enough during kitten season, the kittens were adopted, and she was not!
Her time was up at the shelter and a caring volunteer
adopted her and took her home to foster her until her forever family could be found. She quickly settled in to home life as if she had always been there. A wonderful family called to meet her and appreciated her beauty and personality! The Ryerson’s met her and were amazed that she looked just like a cat they had many, many years back that had passed away! They were so thrilled to find this pretty girl, they could not wait to come and take her home. Lucinda is thriving in her new home and is a very happy and healthy cat once again.
