PCAWL Rescue Stories: Jake
Jake was one of our very first rescues, a sad story indeed, but happy in the end for ole Jake the Golden Retriever. One of our group members had seen Jake tied to a tree day in and day out, no food, water or shelter. She would go by and offer him food and water and even offered a dog house to the family to keep him dry. We asked at the time if they would be willing to turn Jake over to rescue and allow us to find him a home where he would not be tied up all the time. The owners did not agree, so Jake's plight continued and day in and day out he remained there tied to that tree!
One day, we received a call and they said, come
and get him, we are moving and you can have him. We
quickly came to his
rescue, took him home with one of
our fosters and he was on his way to a new, happier
life. Jake was transferred to a breed specific rescue
in St.Louis where he was prepared for adoption and for
a new forever family, where the only trees he would
know were the ones he would "choose" to nap under free
from chains forever!
