PCAWL Rescue Stories: Dolly
Dolly had somehow landed
in the Rolla Animal Shelter. Her people either
left her there or never came looking for her, and although the Shelter
staff tried to place the friendly little girl for 2 weeks over the
legally mandated 5 days, time was running out. The equation of too many homeless animals and not enough homes
results in humane euthanasia due to lack of space.
Dolly had one more chance though. PCAWL arranged to take some animals from the Rolla Animal Shelter to the Rolla Fall Arts and Crafts Festival, a street fair, and Dolly was one of the chosen ones. Since it took place on a beautiful fall day, there was a large crowd of people for her to smile winningly at. It turned out to be Dolly's lucky day. Among all the friendly pats and "oh how CUTE!" comments, the right family came along and said "we want Dolly to come home with us."
Sometimes just a little extra time and effort is all that's needed for the story to
end "happily ever after".
