PCAWL Rescue Stories: Buster Brown
The PCAWL volunteer was driving down her country road when her heart sank at an all-too-familiar sight. An emaciated and frightened little dog was standing in the road. When she opened her door and said "Hi little Buddy, could you use some help?" the little dog climbed into the car and onto her lap. She dubbed him Buster Brown and took him home for some much needed food.
Buster Brown's trip to the vet reassured the volunteer that he was
basically in good health. Buster took to multiple meals each day with
great delight, and started putting some padding back on his bones. He
loved the cats and
other dogs at the volunteer's home. He loved going
on walks, but he really wasn't very happy about living out in a dog yard
or sleeping in a dog house. He knew he was meant for better things.
Buster is a "puggle", a cute little mix of pug and beagle, so when he
was advertised as a 'found dog', he attracted a lot of attention, even
before he was available for adoption. There were several wonderful
homes offered to Buster, but one stood out as a really special place.
Buster went to visit after his surgery and liked it so well he decided
to stay. N
o more starvation and cold sleeping for Buster, he's really
home at last.
Right: Buster after his adoption.
Left: Buster comfortably at home in June 2008.
