PCAWL Rescue Stories: Black Jack
BlackJack was a wonderful 5 month old black lab mix puppy who was continually overlooked by potential adopters at the animal shelter. Since puppies and kittens are readily
adopted out before adult dogs, it was hard to believe that this pretty boy with a 
smile to match his
personality was not able to find a new home.
The day finally came and his time was up, and he was about to become a statistic of just another black puppy euthanized due to lack of interest (see the Black Dog Syndrome). However, a concerned volunteer saw great potential in him and stepped forward to give him the second chance he needed.
Black Jack was adopted by her, taken to the Rolla Animal Hospital where he was neutered and fully updated on vaccinations. He was now ready to try to find his new forever family. His temporary family was quick to love him and lavish him with the love and attention he was previously lacking. Jack was happy to have three young children to play with as well as a foster mom to take him on long walks every day and two other dogs and cats to play with too!
A wonderful family “The Kramme’s” saw him with his foster family at a local baseball game and fell
i
n love with him. They did not even know they were looking for another dog, but one look at him and they were hooked! He went home with them about a week later to meet his new doggie sister, Cinnamon and see if they were a good match. It was touch and go at first, but Cinnamon came to tolerate him quickly and to now love her new playmate. Black Jack and romps and tumbles in the back yard. Black Jack is already bonded with his new family and especially his new friend Nathan Kramme who is his new people best friend.
So the once homeless puppy, overlooked by all potential adopters, rescued by a caring volunteer and then adopted by a loving family, has stolen the hearts of many already everywhere he goes. He is the U10 Babe Ruth Rolla Cardinal Baseball team mascot.
