PCAWL Rescue Stories: Baby

Baby, a beautiful brindle and white border collie, was picked up as a stray, along with her two puppies. One of the pups died not long after coming to the shelter, and then Baby and her surviving puppy went into a foster home. The puppy was diagnosed with parvovirus, and was cared for by a loving PCAWL member, recovering well and finding a wonderful permanent family home.

Meanwhile Baby also became very ill, but with good care, she slowly regained her health. Foster mom observed that Baby didn’t seem to know how to respond to her foster siblings, nor how to play, or what it was to be petted and fussed over when she first came home. But with time and the help of the existing family dogs, Baby learned to play readily with the other dogs and now absolutely loves to be petted and play ball with her people. She came to fit in so well, in fact, that her foster family adopted her and can’t imagine life without her.
