History
PCAWL held the Strut Your Mutt dog walk in Rolla for the first year in 2008 (previously
held by Rolla Friends of the Animals). Thanks to all the community support (sponsors, generous donators, and dog walkers and their dogs), PCAWL raised over $1,000 in much needed funds to help shelter animals. Pictures taken by a member in the 2009 walk can be seen through this album.
Thanks again to the Rolla Friends of the Animals for starting this fundraiser eight years ago and allowing PCAWL take responsibility for this wonderful fundraiser last year in our quest to help shelter animals. Scroll below for the Mike Mason Memorial donation Rolla Friends of the Animals gave.
Donation to the Rolla Animal Shelter of:
- Parvo vaccine for dogs and puppies
- Cardboard pet carriers
- Frontline
- Cat food (courtesy of Royal Canin)
- Litter (see below)
Successful Cat Litter Drives
In 2009, when the Rolla Animal Shelter alerted us that they were running low on cat litter, volunteers, especially Rachel Marler, stepped up to the plate and organized a cat litter drive. PCAWL would like to thank Krogers, Country Mart, MFA and Family Center for graciously allowing us to use their space for this purpose, and most of all, to the generous people who bought and donated cat litter. Thanks to community support, almost 1,500 pounds of litter were delivered to the shelter. Special thanks to Rachel for successfully coordinating this collection.
PCAWL also coordinated a cat litter drive for the shelter in 2008 that helped the shelter.
Booths
In order to raise funds for more shelter animals, as well as getting the word out about our organization and the importance of spaying and neutering, members and volunteers have had booths at quite a few events. Thank you everyone who stopped by to donate or buy an item or just to talk! We can't do this without your support.- Summerfest (2006-2011)
The 2007 booth featured Lucky, a dog up for adoption who encountered love at first sight from a young girl (photo above)! He was adopted by the family and found his for
ever home. Cain, the donation dog, raised funds at PCAWL's 2006 booth with his specially made donation vest. Thanks especially to Key Sport and K-Mart, who showed their support by donated items for a raffle. - Pedigree Supports Adoption of Shelter Animals at K-Mart (May 20, 2006 & May 19, 2007) Phelps County Animal Welfare League makes its first official appearance! Across the nation, Pedigree in conjunction with K-Mart designated May 20th as promoting adoption day. PCAWL was there, with a board of photos of shelter animals available for adoption. We know of at least one successful adoption that occurred after an interested passer-by saw our board, and then went to the shelter and adopted. A formlery neglected dog was thus adopted into a good home.
- Rolla Arts & Craft Fair (2006-2009)
Sold crafts made by volunteers as well as setup adoptio
n board and handed out brochures. Displayed puppies up for adoption. Special guest appearance by Cain, the donation dog, who earned over $100! Also a special thank you to all the generous people who donated funds. - Rolla Junior Club Craft Fair (2007-2009)
Sold crafts created by volunteers. - Leach Theater Event: 101 Dalmations (September 16, 2006)
Setup adoption board to raise awareness of adoption from the shelter and handed out coloring books. - Newburg Day (June 10, 2006)
Setup table in morning and board member Sara Lockard was a judge in the dog contest.

volunteers washed dogs for their pet owners. Thank you to everyone who showed up with their pooch and to
the following sponsors: MFA, Kroger, Erin's Salon, Tangles Hair Studio, Lisa's Ultimate Hair Design, and Carol's Dog Grooming.

By waiting tables and washing dishes, PCAWL members have earned over $1,000 from tips and a percentage
of the proceeds. The funds were much needed for veterinary care for foster animals.
Applebee's Fundraiser breakfast (May 2008 & 2009)
Thanks go generous community support, PCAWL earned over $800 to help homeless animals in the community thanks to the generous donations received as well as percentage of the proceeds. Special thanks to Applebee's for helping us host this fundraiser, as well as Triad's Office City for donating balloons.
